NerdQaxe++: firmware update in your browser

For the NerdQaxe++, NerdQaxe Copper Pro and NerdQaxe++ Hydro (four BM1370): all three use the same firmware. Plug in the miner via USB-C, let the flasher detect it, install.

Both variants come straight from the GitHub releases.

Our server passes the files through unchanged. Before writing, the flasher checks the SHA-256 checksum against the GitHub release, afterwards it verifies the flash contents.

The factory reset is the default.

All factory images (for other boards)

Always writes the full factory image (factory reset). Only use it if you know your board for sure. The flasher warns if the connected board does not match the image.

One firmware for three devices

Copper Pro and Hydro are NerdQaxe++ boards with a different cooler. They use the same factory image and the same update package; the tiles differ only in the picture. Do not confuse them with the older NerdQaxe+ with a single plus: it has its own firmware, you find its image under “All factory images”.

Picked the wrong device?

Before writing, the flasher reads which board the running firmware was built for. If that does not match your selection it asks; an update with another device’s firmware is not allowed at all.

Update or factory reset?

The factory reset is the default: it resets the miner to the defaults of the chosen firmware, then you set it up again through its hotspot. The flasher shows you your previous settings first, so you do not have to look anything up. With “Update”, WiFi, pool and Bitcoin address are kept and only the firmware is replaced.

NerdQaxe++ does not start any more?

Black display, boot loop or wrong firmware: in recovery mode you put the ESP32-S3 into flash mode with the BOOT button and write the factory image again. The flasher guides you through every step.

Frequently asked questions

Which firmware does the NerdQaxe++ need?

The NerdQAxePlus firmware with the AxeOS interface, original or as OSM-OS-Nerdaxe, each with the NerdQAxe++ image. For a factory reset that is esp-miner-factory-NerdQAxe++, for an update esp-miner-NerdQAxe++.bin and www.bin.

Does this also apply to the Copper Pro and Hydro?

Yes. Both are NerdQaxe++ boards and use exactly the same firmware.

What about the NerdQaxe+ (single plus)?

That is an older board with its own firmware. Its factory image is listed under “All factory images”; the flasher detects which of the two firmwares is running when you connect.

What is the WiFi called after a factory reset?

Nerdaxe_ plus four characters from the MAC address, for example Nerdaxe_A1B2. The flasher shows you the exact name, and it is also on the display.
